Today as we concluded our consultative meeting with the community leaders of bidibidi refugee settlement yumbe district, in attendance was the youth and women leaders, religious and cultural leaders, the refugee welfare council, local council and other stakeholders, the discussion was focused on the needs, expectations and perception of the local communities about the AEP program, with more focus on creating an environment where the leaders are more freely to express issues affecting low enrollment of girls in the hosting schools across the settlement, among our findings are lack of food for both the learners and their children in the hosting schools, also lack of children corners and care takers in the hosting schools makes it difficult for young mothers to attend classes, long distances from the AEP school also is a barrier for students to attend schools.
